Same for me, most/all times when I select the pencil power it shows an error, then I have to refresh the page to be able to use it.

It also happened to me in my game. I was unable to use the pencil Power as it gave me an error but once I refreshed the screen it allowed me to use it. boardgamearena.com/3/nextstation?table=308675001

Happens consistently for me. As others have mentioned, hitting browser refresh activates the power.

This happens always to me if I click on the pencil power card, but not usually if I click on the button. I did not know about refreshing clearing the issue.

This is a recurring problem I encounter with the pencil Power 'Joker' when playing through the BGA app on my phone and on my tablet (see imgur.com/a/69AQ7bC). To use this Power I must systematicly refresh after getting the error message. Then it works.

Forgot to mention: refreshing the page activates the power (like others have mentioned already, just wanted to confirm it helps here too).

Problem happens both on Windows Chrome as well as Android. Clicking the power shows a red bar: power not available, and nothing changes on the map. Refreshing the page shows that the power is activated and can be "placed"

I'm getting this same bug every time I go to use my pencil power, with the code:

nextstation.game.php:L1521

It fixes with refreshing. Occurring on both web (google chrome) and mobile (safari)

Happened to me too, twice in the same game (cancelled the first activation of the pencil power). Refresh continues the game with the pencil power activated. This was on Mac Safari.

I think it is with the joker card. Power is marked as used even if I could not use it. Too bad, that costs me 5-6 points.

I have a similar problem, but also a bit different.
Clicking on the pencil button often gives and error on a smartphone, but after that the power is activated (without any advantage) and cannot be undone. (did not reload)

Example:
- click on the joker card.
- i get an error that the card cannot be played. Now I believe that the joker card can be played with blue cards only (seeing the illustration), while I had a red card, so I follow the guidance of the red card: triangle (I don't really use the power)
- then the next turn I realize that the power has been gone (so I take three passes in the next 4 rounds)

Just wanted to upvote. I had this happen on Windows/Chrome on the first round of a solo challenge game late yesterday afternoon. I wanted to use the Joker and got the red bar, unavailable. I refreshed. Unavailable. I thought maybe it was a first-round thing, and played on. However, on subsequent turns that round the power was no longer available, though I hadn't been able to use it.

Not realizing that I'd already played this challenge yesterday afternoon, I tried it again this morning, again wanted to use the power card on the first turn, and got the same error.

This bug has been open for over a year!? It's very easy to replicate - it happens every time I forget and click on the *flashing* card instead of the button. If you aren't going to fix the card click then just make it so we can't click on it at all.

Can reproduce this on every pencil power use. Clicking it I get "You pencil power is not available (nextstation.game.php:L1521)". Refreshing the pencil power is awaiting to be used so it does not block the use. Guessing maybe a missing break in a switch loop?

This bug is infuriating because you'll never know if your pencil power was used and on what station. :( When you refresh the page and realize it was put on a different station and there's no undo, you're left scratching your head wondering what happened.

Da ich auf dem Handy spiele kann ich kein F5 nutzen. Ich konnte in meinem Zug weder die Buntstiftaktion mobilisieren noch einen "normalen" Zug machen.
