About Boardgaymergirl BGA Community
Welcome to Boardgaymergirl BGA Community Group! If you didn't already know my name is Natalie, and I like to talk about all things board games, typically from a solo perspective. But if you are here, you probably already know that!
This is a space for board games, fun and friends! The real push for this community is a thank you to my subscribers over on YouTube, and a way to give back by connecting over some good old virtual board game sessions. If you haven't already, I also have a new Discord server that you can join here:
In this server, I will have the rules and expectations for members who would like to participate in community led monthly BGA tournaments! Each month, I will set up a tournament, round robin style, here on BGA. I will make the monthly announcements in the Discord server and give about a week for folks to register before a tournament begins. Whenever we have a winner from one of these tournaments, they will have the chance to pick the next board game they would like us to feature for our monthly BGA tournaments.
Participation is free, but you will need a BGA account and have signed up for this group/joined the Discord server. Also, obviously while there are no prizes for winning a tournament, winners will be announced in the Discord server and messaged about the next monthly game. For months where members may not want to pick the next game, or have a few different games on their mind, we will run a community poll in the Discord server to determine, by popular vote, which game to play next!
Otherwise, frolic amongst yourselves as, if you wish, you can connect with each other and play some games outside of the monthly tournaments. So, feel free to open new games in BGA and invite fellow members to game it up! To learn more about how to open a game for members of the group see the instructions below:
TO OPEN UP A GAME FOR THE GROUP:
🎲 Pick a game you want to play (If you want to play a premium game but do not have a premium membership, you can send a call out to other community members in the General Messages section!)
🎲 Check for how many players you'd like to have at the table along with any other settings for a game (added expansions, variants for particular games)
🎲 BE SURE TO RESTRICT THE GAME INVITES TO "Boardgaymergirl BGA Community". Just click on the green icon (of people going into a door) to access the restriction settings. Then choose "Open Owl Studios" where it says Restrict to Group.
🎲 Copy the URL of the table you just created and create a post in this Boardgaymergirl BGA Community with the URL included. You can add details of the game, if expansions or variants are part of the game, how many players are needed etc. This way folks from this community can join up for a game!
Then just sit back and wait. Also, assume most games will be turn-based unless specified otherwise.
