Since several people have PMed me to ask, I'll clarify how a turn-based tournament game works. You have 3.75 days of thinking time for the whole game. A game of 7 Wonders lasts 18 turns, which means you have 5 hours of thinking time per move. If you check 2-3 times per day to see if it's your turn, you will finish the game easily without running out of time. Your clock isn't always going be to running down; sometimes you will be waiting for other people to make their move. On average, a game should finish in 7 days if nobody is absent.
"Half Elimination" is the best multiplayer elimination format, because it means the tournament finishes without anyone needing to take a bye. Hopefully, all the slow or absent players will get knocked out in the first round or two. If you get unluckily eliminated due to someone else running out of time, just wait for the next tournament.
